Shining a Light on Disability Employment

In commemoration of the July 26, 1990, signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act, July is designated as Disability Pride Month. Lighthouse Louisiana spotlights the pride, challenges, and achievements experienced within the disabled community and highlights the organization’s contributions to the promotion of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Lighthouse Louisiana’s Employment Services Department takes pride in:

·      Providing Supported Employment services to individuals and employers throughout the community for over 20 years.

·      Forging federal, state, and local employer partnerships with companies such as the World War II Museum, Clerk of Court, NASA – Michoud Assembly Facility, and Dan’s Landscaping.

·      Serving over 140 People with Disabilities (PWD) each year.

·      Maintaining partnerships with external stakeholders, which include Louisiana Rehabilitation Services (LRS), Ticket to Work (TTW), and Ability One programs.

This year, the Employment Services Team will participate in the 2023 Virtual Mid-Atlantic ADA Mini Conference held later this month. “We take pride in defining and fulfilling our professional development goals, which lead to training opportunities like the ADA Conference, encouraging confidence and credibility as we advocate for our customer base,” said Natalie Harrison, Director of Employment Services.
