National Disability Employment Awareness Month

The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 prohibits employment discrimination against people with disabilities in the federal sector. Join Lighthouse Louisiana in celebrating the contributions of these individuals during October’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). 
 
“The support and services offered by Lighthouse Louisiana over the past 100+ years have contributed to the advancement of access and equity for People with Disabilities (PWD),” said Natalie Harrison, CESP, Director of Employment Services. “As the workforce changes, so does the type of support and services PWD require to remain competitive in the workplace. Lighthouse Louisiana’s Employment Specialists embrace the importance of advocating effectively with employers and closing the gaps that create barriers among candidates with or without disabilities, which, in turn, levels the playing field for equal and equitable competitive employment opportunities.”
