Collaborating With Community Resources to Educate the Underserved

Lighthouse Services Directors, Liz Fussell, PhD, and Natalie Harrison, CESP, collaborated with other community resources to educate People Living with HIV (PLHIV) on Benefits Planning and Supported Employment services during the Thriving With HIV: Let the Good Times Roll
Conference hosted by the Reunion Project last month.

“We were thrilled to have the opportunity to share information with participants who were eager to hear more about Lighthouse Louisiana services,” said Dr. Fussell. “Network opportunities like this lead to people collaborating through training offered by American Job Centers, which is a resource crucial to the planning process for WIPA beneficiaries.”

This national conference geared toward connecting individuals and communities found its way to New Orleans bringing together American Job Centers, Louisiana Rehabilitation Services (LRS), Goodwill Industries of Southeast Louisiana, Crescent Care Legal Services, and others to provide valuable information to the participants.

“Information sharing in this platform is the bread and butter that our services are built upon,” said Harrison. “Each conference attended, serves as a marketing tool, spreading the word that Lighthouse Louisiana remains a viable community resource to underserved populations.”
