Daily Living Skills Training

The Daily Living Skills Class offers specialized training to develop the basic adaptive techniques necessary to function independently with vision loss. Each student receives hands-on assistance in a fun and supportive environment by experienced instructors who are eager to help them develop the confidence they need to meet their individual goals.

- Adapted Kitchen Safety & Meal Preparation
- Adapted Household Tasks
- Orientation & Mobility (cane travel)
- Effective Money Management
- Essential Organizational Skills
- Use of Tactual Markers
- Intro to Braille
- Assistive Technology
- Community Resources
- Adaptive Devices
- Understanding Magnification

The classes meet 2 days a week and are on-going at the New Orleans campus and as needed in St. Tammany Parish. Individual instruction is provided, when necessary, to serve clients who are not appropriate for group training.
