Getting to The Lighthouse Using Public Transportation?

The best way to get to The Lighthouse using public transportation is to take the Tchoupitoulas (#10) bus to the State Street stop (you can ask the driver to let you know when the bus comes to State Street). Once off the bus, walk two blocks towards the river. The Lighthouse for the Blind is on the left hand side of the street in the second block south from Tchoupitoulas Street. Directions from Metairie, Kenner, Mandeville, and Baton Rouge:

Going East on I-10
Take the US-61/Airline Hwy/Carrollton Ave Exit #232
Take the I-10 E/Carrollton Ave. ramp, keep left at the fork in the ramp
Travel on S. Carrollton Ave. 2.2 miles and turn left at traffic circle onto St. Charles Ave.
Continue on St. Charles Ave. 1.2 miles to State Street
Turn Right onto State Street and continue 1.1 miles toward river
End at the levee (river) at 123 State Street

Directions from: Eastern New Orleans, Slidell, Mississippi:

Going West on  I-10
Travel on I-10 W. toward New Orleans
Merge onto US-90 W. via exit number 234C- on the left- toward and onto Claiborne Avenue
Go 1.6 Miles on Claiborne Avenue to Napoleon Ave and turn Left on Napoleon Avenue
Go 1.3 miles on Napoleon Avenue and turn Right onto Tchoupitoulas Street
Turn Left onto State Street and go toward levee (river) two blocks
End at 123 State Street

Directions from the Westbank: Gretna, Marrero, Westwego, Harvey, and Algiers:

Take Crescent City Connection - US-90-BR EAST go 3.1 miles
Take the Earhart Blvd/Claiborne Ave (US-90 W) exit right and go .1 miles
Continue on Earhart Blvd .4 miles
Turn Left on S. Claiborne Ave (under the overpass) and go 1.3 miles
Turn Left on Napoleon Ave. go 1.6 miles
Turn Right on Tchoupitoulas Street and go 1.3 miles
Turn Left on State Street and go 2 blocks
End at 123 State Street
